Bobby "Mr. Mike" Michelsen

Bobby “Mr. Mike” Michelsen, 79, of Columbia passed away on January 28, 2025.

A native of Columbia, Bobby was born at Providence Hospital in Columbia on August 3, 1945, to William Robert and Agnes Hagerty Michelsen. Mr. Mike was a dedicated teacher at Lynnhaven High, Columbia High, Lexington High and Chapin High School. He loved his students, and they loved him in return, many of them held lifelong friendships with him.

In retirement he volunteered at Lexington Hospital providing pet therapy with his furry best friends, Scrappy and Tiger. Bobby will be remembered for his love of his family and of his animals.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his daughter, Gayle Kathleen Michelsen. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 61 years Sandra Michelsen; a son, Rob Michelsen; a sister, Kathy Shaw and a brother, Jimmy Michelsen.
