Carolyn Watts Thomas

Carolyn Watts Thomas, 74, of Columbia, SC, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.Carolyn was born August 5, 1947, in Rock Hill, SC, and was the daughter of the late Elbert E. Watts and Grace C. Watts. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years and the love of her life, E. Wayne Thomas. She attended Rock Hill High school and Columbia Commercial College, where she met Wayne. Carolyn attended Riverland Hills Baptist Church and was very strong in her faith.When she was able, she was active in Sunday School, taught GA’s, and sang in the choir. She instilled in her family the importance of knowing God. Carolyn loved life and her many loyal friends. She especially enjoyed her time with her two best friends, Kathy Barnhill and Suzanne Dobbins. Carolyn was a high school, middle school, and preschool teacher and had a passion for children. She was a very proud and loving mother of her two children, Kimberly D. Thomas (Mike) of Irmo and Christopher W. Thomas (Kelly) of Chapin. She was most proud to be called Nana by her grandchildren Mason S. Thomas and Callie G. Thomas. She is also survived by her brother E. Dale Watts (Lil) of Rock Hill; sister-in-law Lynn T. Rogers (Harold) of Tega Cay; brother-in-law Colonel Martin C. Thomas of Florence; stepbrother-in-law Leon H Tucker (Ann) of Irmo; step brother-in-law Richard Hennecy of Mullins;many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.She was also preceded in death by her mother-in-law Clara Tucker (LH), sister-in-law Barbara Thomas, and step sister-in-law Bootsie Hennecy. The family would like to thank the staff on 5th Long at Prisma Health Baptist and Dr. Muhammad A Rafiq of Carolina Kidney Specialists for their loving care of Mom. The funeral service for Carolyn Watts Thomas will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Temples Halloran Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow service.The family will receive friends from noon – 2:00 p.m. before the service at the funeral home.
