Charles "Rock" S. Monteith

COLUMBIA--A private entombment for Charles S. "Rock" Monteith, III, was held on Monday, May 14, 2018, at Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Born in Columbia, SC., on June 24, 1946, Rock was the son of the late Charles S. Monteith, Jr. and Mildred Ward Monteith.He passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018, after a brief illness. Rock grew up in the Eau Claire Community and was an exceptional Shamrock football player coached by Art Baker.Following his early retirement from BellSouth, he began his professional bass fishing career which he enjoyed for over twenty years. Surviving is his loving wife of 40 years, Shirley Broach Monteith; sister, Bryce Monteith Anderson (Eric) of Chapin. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; Palmetto Animal Assisted Life Services, 221 N. Grampian Hills Road, Columbia 29223; or the charity of one's choice.
