On July 30th 1935, Chloe Folk Bailey was born in a small family home to W.A. and Rebecca Folk. Many stories were told about all of the things that happened along Kennerly Road, where the house still stands. Perhaps the most heart warming story was walking to church and back every Sunday morning. The love of her life, Nevis Bailey, rode the school bus one afternoon, just to see the home she lived in. He wasn't a bus rider; he simply wanted to ask her out to a school dance. The relationship between Nevis Bailey and Chloe Folk grew to become Nevis and Chloe Bailey. They were married for nearly 50 years, and together they brought three daughters into the world: Linda Diane, Teressa Ty, and Benita Sue. The family lived in the Irmo/Chapin area, where Chloe resided until the time of her passing.
Chloe enjoyed being outside, from cutting grass to plowing the garden; any outdoor chore was exactly what she wanted to do. Cleanliness was also a hobby and not a chore. She enjoyed waxing and buffing her hard wood floors, vacuuming, ironing and used Clorox bleach to clean any and everything. Chloe enjoyed crafts like cross stitching and sewing. She canned her own vegetables and made down-home southern meals that no one could recreate if they tried. Perhaps her greatest gift was caring for others and welcomed many people into her home. She worked at Allied Chemical for nearly 23 years. She was a faithful member of St. Andrews Road Church of Christ.
Chloe is survived by her daughters Linda, Teresa (Brent), and Benita; grandchildren Monica (Wade), Misty (Kenneth), Laura (Andrew), and Annie (Coleman); great-grandchildren Kyle (Rachel), Wyatt (Amanda), Charlotte, Ava, Ryan, Natalie, Amelia, and Levi; great-great-grandchildren Aslan, Emmy, Ellorie, Margo, and Violet; siblings Patsy Kimball and Merle Folk. She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings: Edward, Millie, Jimmy, and Bennie Charles; and her grandson Tyler. Each person held their own special place in her heart.
Chloe passed away August 12th, 2026 in the comfort of her own home. To know her was to love her for all that she was. She reached deeply into the lives of all those around her. She will be dearly missed, and never forgotten. Chloe is at home with her Lord and Savior, and continues to live on in our hearts and minds.
