Connie N. McTeer

October 6, 1936 — March 5, 2026

Columbia

Connie N. McTeer, 89, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Born in Great Falls, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Connie M. Neal and Leoma Williams Neal.

Known to many as Mitzi, she had a tremendous heart for animals. She was a contributing member of the Animal Protection League and often donated both her time and resources to various animal organizations. She especially loved her three dogs—Taco, Bullet, and Rico—along with many other animals who came into her life over the years. On one of their many adventures together, she and her husband discovered a small homeless dog, whom they named Rico and welcomed into their home. Rico became very special to both her and her husband, Henry.

Ms. Mitzi (Connie) was also a member of WOW, the Women of Whitehall club, where many ladies gathered for dinners, shopping trips, and group outings. She was also a longtime member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church.

However, aside from her faith, the most important thing to her was her family. She was deeply family-oriented and spent her life caring for those she loved. Small dinners among a few family members often turned into gatherings filled with stories, laughter, and love around the dinner table. Those conversations will be cherished for years to come. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She leaves behind her small but loving family, including numerous nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Henry McTeer; her sisters, Mary Creeley and Billie Schnable; and her brother, Max Neal.

In lieu of flowers please toast her memory with a rum and coke or margarita!

A small graveside service is pending at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 400 River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.
