Deborah Monte

Deborah Ann Monte, age 70, passed away on July 25, 2026, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Born on November 17, 1955, in Brooklyn, New York, Deborah was a beloved daughter of the late William Monte and Mildred Monte.

In June of 1973 - Deborah graduated from William H. Maxwell Vocational High School in Brooklyn, New York.

Deborah was a woman whose presence could never be mistaken. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a touch of sass, and a strength that carried her through life’s challenges. She endured more than most people ever knew, often choosing to shoulder her burdens without asking for help. Through it all, she remained resilient and fiercely devoted to the people she loved.

Family was the center of Deborah’s world. She deeply loved her three sons, Shawn Monte (Nicole Monte), William McRae (Tabitha McRae), and Fred McRae Jr. (Joy McRae). While she cherished her sons, her grandchildren—Shane Monte, Ethan McRae, and Liam McRae—held a special place in her heart and brought her endless happiness.

Deborah is also survived by her siblings, Patricia Monte and William Monte. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Monte and Mildred Monte, and her sister, Linda Watson.

She shared a special bond with her friend, Patrizia Watson, who often looked out for her whenever she needed a friend.

She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.

She found happiness in the simple things that made life beautiful. Purple being her favorite color, music was one of her greatest passions, and she could watch the movie Dirty Dancing over and over again. She also enjoyed spending time working on puzzles and browsing for treasures through online shopping.

If Deborah could be there for someone, she would. She gave what she could with what she had, never expecting anything in return. Her generosity wasn’t measured by wealth but by the love and care she showed to those around her.

Deborah’s legacy is one of strength, laughter, resilience, and unconditional love. She leaves behind countless memories that will continue to bring comfort to those who knew her. Though her physical presence is gone, her spirit will live on through her family, her stories, and the love she poured into the lives of those around her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the prayers, love, and support shown during this difficult time. Deborah’s memory will forever be cherished, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

A Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 noon, Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Bush River Funeral Home Chapel.
