Edwin C. Best

The graveside funeral service for Edwin Charles Best, Sr., 81, of Columbia, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21st, 2021 at Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Pastor McLeod Best will officiate. Edwin was born on October 5th, 1939 in Horry County, SC to the late Charles Dowe and Anne Neal Best. He passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Edwin attended Columbia Industrial College where he met his late wife, JoAnn Best. He was an insurance salesman through Atlantic Coast Life Insurance Company until retirement. After he retired, Edwin worked for and retired from the Piggly Wiggly grocery store in Irmo, SC. Edwin loved spending time with family and attended Riverland Hills Baptist Church. Surviving family members include his son: Eddie Best, Jr. (Sandy); sister: Jewel Floyd; brother: Bobby Best (Virginia); grandchildren: McLeod (Abby) Best, McKenna Best, Matthew Lutz, and Tonya Lutz; great-grandchildren: Kassidy, Kylie, and Adam. Edwin was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, JoAnne Best; his daughter Debbie Best, his brother Timothy Thompson, and his granddaughter Crystal Lutz.
