Elizabeth B. Berg

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Elizabeth (Liz) B. Berg, 85, will be held Friday, August 26, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC 29210. The Berg Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. in the church narthex. Reverend Peter Sousa, C.Ss.R. will officiate. Burial will follow at a later date in Bush River Memorial Gardens. Elizabeth was born on August 20, 1936, in Greensboro, GA, and departed this earthly life on August 14, 2022, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Julius Bufford and Hattie Bryan Bufford. Elizabeth was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church. She will be remembered most as a loving, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed. Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, John L. Berg; daughter, Ellen B. McKenzie (Ken); sons, Greg P. Berg (Margaret) and Glenn E. Berg; brother, Gene Bufford; grandchildren, Todd Green, Kristen Green, Kaitlen McKenzie, Colin Berg, Connor Berg, Catherine Berg, Shaina Youngblood (Hunter), Elizabeth Berg, and Noah Berg; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her son, John L. Berg, II; her sisters, Mildred and Kay; and her brother, David. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church. The family would like to thank the compassionate staff of All Seasons Hospice - Irmo, SC.
