Gene was born on September 14, 1931, in Beloit, Wisconsin. He attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison and proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Gene was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose greatest joy in life was his family. He shared nearly 63 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Janet Leigh Elliott Zentz. Together, they built a life centered on love, faith, family, and a deep commitment to one another.
In 1999, Gene and Janet relocated to South Carolina, where he became a faithful member of Union United Methodist Church in Irmo. He also enjoyed spending time on the golf course. Those who knew Gene will remember his selfless spirit, humble nature, generosity, kindness, strong work ethic, and deep love for his family. He was a man who put others before himself and was admired and loved by all who knew him.
Gene is survived by his wife, Janet Zentz; his son, Mark Elliott Zentz; his daughter, Kristin Kay Farmer (Scott); and his cherished grandchildren, Olivia Grace Gabriel and Holden Matthew Gabriel.
