Gregory J. Assemany, 76, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on August 2, 1947. He was the son of James Theodore Assemany, Jr., and Mary Lee Flynn Assemany. Gregory was a 40-year resident of the Babcock Center and a long-time member of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church. Greg loved watching sports on TV and especially Gamecocks football. Gregory is survived by his sisters, Peggy Gibson (Jimmy) and Saralee Stricker (Kim); and his brothers, James Assemany (Darcy) and Daniel Assemany (Kimberly), as well as a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Timothy Assemany. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service. Entombment in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum will follow the service.
