September 23, 1939 — March 6, 2026

Columbia

Jack Nelson Taylor, Jr., 86, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026.

Servies to celebrate his life will be held 11:00 am on Thursday March 12, 2026, at Lexington Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

A native of Columbia, Nelson was born on September 23, 1939, to Jack and Marguerite Taylor. He will be remembered as a true “jack of all trades.” If something needed fixing, building, or figuring out, Nelson was the one people called. He was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family and doing things the right way.

Nelson retired after many years working in the trucking industry. While he worked hard throughout his life, his greatest joy was always his family and the simple moments they spent together. He especially loved the outdoors, and fishing was one of his passions. His special place was on his dock with a view of the lake.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother; Ed Taylor and sister, Janice White. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, of 66 years, Margaret Taylor; three sons, Jack Nelson Taylor III, (Robin), Joseph D. Taylor (Wendy), and Christopher Gerald “Jerry” Taylor; five grandchildren, Jordan Stokes (Drew), Cydney Putnam (Justin), Caleb Taylor (Logan Taylor), Savannah Taylor, and Shane Taylor; three great grandchildren, Bo, Maggie, Miller; a sister, Bonnie Bone; many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
