Pat Toal

James Patrick Toal, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023. Born on April 10, 1942, in Columbia, SC, he was the son of Helen Nadine Livingston Toal and John Keenan Toal. He attended St. Peter’s Catholic School, Hand Middle School, and Dreher High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master of Arts in Education. He taught at Spring Valley High School. Pat is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Paula; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Beth and Broadus Brannon of Asheville, NC; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Price and Iris Dodson of Norfolk, VA; niece Allison Brannon of Denver, CO; nephew Michael Brannon of Raleigh, NC, and his furry companion, Gypsy. A graveside memorial service is planned for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Elmwood Cemetery (501 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29201). The Rev. Dr. Mark Bredholt will officiate.
