Jeanne Sampson

Mrs. Jeanne Ray Sampson, 91, of Columbia, SC, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 11th, 2026.

Jeanne was born in Grove City, Pennsylvania to Charles and Isabel Ray. She lived in Erie, PA during most of her childhood. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Westminster College in Wilmington, PA where she met and married her husband, David Sampson. She worked as a second grade teacher until they started their family. She then became a housewife, full time mother, and eventually a grandmother.

Jeanne is survived by her son, Bill Sampson, daughters, Laurie and Linda (Billy), grandchildren, Kerri, Doug, Kyle, Brad, and Emma, and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 52 years, David, a sister, Linda Miles, and a daughter-in-law, Kay Sampson.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 29th, 2026, at 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the Bush River Funeral Home Chapel in Columbia, South Carolina (5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212). Interment will be immediately following the service at Bush River Memorial Gardens.
