Jo Ann Clifton Nelson

The funeral service for Jo Ann Clifton Nelson, 86, of Columbia will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Irmo. Mr. Andy Stokes will officiate. The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home. Jo Ann was born on May 2, 1937, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Edward Kyle Clifton and Mildred Sweet Clifton. She passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. Jo Ann was a homemaker. She loved her family and loved spending time with her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Jo Ann enjoyed playing cards with her friends from her church and her friends outside her church. She enjoyed traveling to the beach. Jo Ann is survived by her daughter, Paige Nelson Cozzolino (Michael); her son, Mark Alan Nelson (Meredith); and her daughter-in-law, Darlene Nelson She is also survived by her sister, Margie Miller; her grandchildren, Jennifer Sawyers (Ken), Jeffrey Nelson (Sara), Maegan Morrison (Christopher), and Connor Nelson (Katie); her great-grandchildren, Taylor, Chloe, Ava, Grey, Crew, and Briggs; her great-great-grandchild, Nelson. Besides her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Herbert Nelson; her stepson, Samuel Nelson; and her sister Barbara Clifton.
