John Stephen Keefe

John Stephen (“Steve”) Keefe passed away on June 3, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born in Columbia, he was the son of John Ladd Keefe and Fredree Hensley Keefe. Steve attended Columbia High School and the University of South Carolina and worked as an industrial electrician. He was married to his high school sweetheart for 54 years. Surviving are his wife, Susan Smith Keefe of Columbia; his daughter, April Sutherland of Columbia; his son, John Stephen Keefe, Jr., of Cameron, SC; two grandchildren, Hunter David Sutherland and Savannah Haley Sutherland; his precious Boykin Spaniel “Dolly Belle Keefe”; as well as extended family members. Steve was an avid fisherman and spent many weekends and as much time as possible offshore. He loved fishing at his happy place at Lowfalls Landing. He loved gardening and spent a lot of time planting his beautiful flowers and vegetables and maintaining his beautiful yard. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Bush River Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Mark Bredholt will officiate.
