A celebration of life for John Clayton "Clay" Reynolds, 46, will be held 1:00 pm Monday, May 4, 2026 at New Life Baptist Church; 2825 Ashland Road; Columbia, SC. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. A small private graveside will be held at a later time.

Clay passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026 after his battle with cancer. He was the most uplifting and positive person throughout life's journey, including during his battle. He was always telling everyone when asked how he was doing, "I'm doing better than I deserve." His strong and inspiring Christian Faith helped him persevere through his moments of highs and lows, knowing he was going to be entering the heavenly gates.

Clay attended Ridge View High School, graduating in 1998. Following high school, he attended Midlands Technical College where he earned his associates degree before beginning his career in Information Technology. He most recently worked for Richland County. He played bass guitar throughout his life, and played in two bands when he was younger; Maywater and Finding Solace. He attended New Life Baptist Church where he was well loved by the church members. Clay was an active “Ham” and a member of Columbia Amateur Ham Radio Club. He also had a passion for classic cars, including his prized 2002 Pontiac Firebird.

He is survived by his father, Cliff Reynolds; sister, Noel Reynolds Hebert (Kevin); niece, Claire Hebert; and nephew, Cody Hebert.

He was predeceased by his mother, Sally Reynolds; and his beloved dog he rescued and cared for, Cheyanne.
