A memorial service for Lucy L. Scott, 75, will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, May 3, 2026, at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 1416 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Lucy passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Born in Erie, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Pepicello & Geraldine Bliley Pepicello. She met her husband of 40 years, Wayne, in Erie, PA. She moved to Columbia, SC in 1990. Together they enjoyed travel, especially to New York City, attending many Broadway shows over the years, and later trips to London, Paris and Rome. In England they visited London’s historic sites, as well as Cambridge, Bath, and various other castles. They particularly enjoyed their time in Saltzburg, Austria, and Florence and Venice in Italy.
She found even more pleasure in doing much simpler things: spending time with her grandchildren, watching Jeopardy, Antique Roadshow, and other favorite television shows and Liam Neeson films.
Lucy, a lifelong Sears, Roebuck and Company employee until her retirement, was a devoted wife and homemaker who blossomed in her prized role as a loving Grammy. She treasured every precious moment she shared with her grandchildren. And she never failed to give her husband Wayne the same loving care.
A hard worker, Lucy found time for her own interests and hobbies. She enjoyed working on word puzzles, reading memoirs and inspiring life stories and struggles of real people. Even more, she loved tending to her small patch of flowers near her front door. She also loved doing volunteer work – the food bank, visitations to homebound Church members, and other such projects – at the church when she was able.
Lucy is survived by her husband, Dr. Wayne Scott, a retired college professor; her beloved daughter Melinda Ann Fowler (Bryan); Morgan Elizabeth, Bryce Woodward and Mason Joseph, her grandchildren; Melissa E. Scott and her children, Ashleigh, Cassandra, Julia, and Ryan in Albany, NY; her sister Susan Kraft (Joe), brothers Joseph Pepicello (Susie), Bob Pepicello (Annette), and Roger Pepicello, and numerous nieces and nephews.
