Melvin Gladys Boyles Smith

COLUMBIA—The Homegoing Service for Melvin Gladys Boyles Smith, 88, of Columbia, will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle Way of the Cross Church of Christ, 1630 Heyward Brockington Road, Columbia, SC 29203. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.Temples Halloran Funeral Home is serving the family. Gladys, widow of the late Bishop Herfort M. Smith, departed this life on Tuesday surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 8, 1929 to the late Abraham and Ella Geiger Boyles.Gladys and her late husband were the Founders of Faith Tabernacle Way of the Cross Church of Christ.She worked for the family of Sarah and “Mac” McCrory for over 50 years. Survivors include her sister Mamie Lee ( John Floyd) McDaniel, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
