In loving memory of Paul Oken, who peacefully departed from this world on November 5, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on October 17, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the cherished son of Michael and Sydell Oken. Paul lived a life that was as vibrant and full as the city of his birth, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Paul was a dedicated scholar, graduating from Hofstra University in 1956 with a degree in accounting. His passion for numbers and precision led him to successfully pass the CPA Exam, launching a distinguished career as a Certified Public Accountant. Paul’s professional journey was marked by his entrepreneurial spirit, as he later became the owner and operator of Jiffy Lube, Inc. Even after retirement, his intellect and experience remained invaluable, and he continued to contribute his knowledge as a consultant and advisor on numerous boards.
He was a man of many passions, with a love for sports that was particularly evident in his unwavering support for the Atlanta Braves. An avid traveler, Paul explored the world with an adventurous spirit, visiting numerous countries and embracing the diverse cultures he encountered. Music was another pillar of his life, with the voices of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and The Beatles often filling his home with joy.
Paul’s warmth and humor were legendary. He truly never met a stranger, as his ability to connect with people was profound and genuine. Those who knew him would often speak of his good nature and the laughter that seemed to follow him wherever he went.
Though preceded in death by his beloved parents, Michael and Sydell, his brother Albert, sister Abby, and his dear wife Judy, Paul's legacy lives on through his cherished family. He is survived by his children William, James, Lisa, Pamela, and Robert, who carry forward his values and love. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren—Alex, Kelsey, Sarah, Jenna, Samuel, Kathryn, Sophie, Layla, and Turner—and a great-grandfather to Luca, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Forest Lake Manor, whose compassionate care and dedication provided comfort to Paul during his final years.
In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Paul's life. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor his memory may donate to a charity of their choice.
Paul's family and friends will remember him for his remarkable life, his loving nature, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. His spirit will continue to inspire and guide the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
