Richard Baker Griffin

Richard Baker Griffin, 78, of Columbia, SC. Died Thursday, February 4, 2021.He was the son of deceased Patsy Keels Griff Platt. He was employed at Fort Jackson MEPS for 37 years.He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1961.He served in the US Army (Army Reserves) for a total of 13 years. Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Carolyn Dreher Griffin of 55 years; daughter, Vonda K. Hensley, and son, Dr. Richard T. Griffin, and daughter-in-law, Amy Griffin.Grandchildren, Matthew Hensley, Katie Hensley, Braxton Griffin, and Emma Griffin; two brothers, Michael Patrick Griffin of Orangeburg, Sc and Robert L. Griffin of Charleston, SC; three great-grandchildren, Madelyn Hensley, Jacob Hensley, and Elliot Hansley.Special cousins, Buck Long and Cindy Long.Richard was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Dale Griffin. A graveside service will be held at Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 8, 2021.Pastor John Hamilton will officiate.Temples Halloran Funeral Home is assisting the family. A visitation will be held Sunday, February 7, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at The Griffin Residence, 334 Pitney Road, Columbia, SC 29212.
