Robert Friendly

Robert Friendly, 87, passed away on September 30, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service.

He was born on April 14, 1939, in Orangeburg County, South Carolina.

Robert served his country proudly in the South Carolina National Guard for 19 months before entering the United States Army in June 1958, where he served until August 1961. He became a member of the American Legion in 2009.

Robert retired from Eastman Chemical Company in December 1999 after nearly 29 years of service in industrial mechanical maintenance.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shielda Friendly; his parents; his brothers, Charles Friendly, Edward Friendly; his sons, Larry Friendly, Robert Allen Friendly; his nephew, Eddie Friendly; and his aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his son, Mark Friendly (Laura); grandchildren, Linda (Brandon), Chris (Hannah), Eric (Aileen) and Rachel (Shemar).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chapin High School Athletic Fund in memory of Larry Friendly.
