Ronald H. Creech, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge Hospital.

A service to celebrate Ron's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Bush River Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Creech will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date with military honors.

Ron was born on September 17, 1946, in Johnston County, North Carolina, to the late James London Creech and Pauline Hester Creech. During his school years, he enjoyed playing baseball and was a talented trumpet player in the marching band.

Following high school, Ron proudly answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army. He served in The Old Guard, the Army's ceremonial unit, and was selected to serve as an Honor Guard at both the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the White House. During his distinguished military service, he participated in the State Funeral of President Dwight D. Eisenhower and the Inauguration of President Richard M. Nixon. His service to his country remained one of the proudest accomplishments of his life.

Beyond his military service, Ron lived life with enthusiasm, kindness, and a deep appreciation for people. He was an avid cyclist who participated in numerous charity rides and generously volunteered his time supporting children with special needs. He also had a deep love for the water and found great joy in boating, spending time outdoors, and making memories with family and friends along the way. Ron cherished the years he and Brenda spent living in Florida, where he especially enjoyed the coastal lifestyle, and treasured the many friendships they made there.

Ron never met a stranger. He was known for his vibrant personality, warm smile, quick wit, and love of dancing. Whether spending time with family, visiting with neighbors, riding his bicycle, enjoying a day on the water, or simply sharing stories with friends, he brought energy and joy wherever he went. He was also devoted to his beloved dog, Lilly, who was a constant companion and source of happiness.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, James Roger Creech.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 35 years, Brenda Creech; his sister, Darline Casey; his sister-in-law, Bonnie Jackson, and her husband, John Jackson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and neighbors who will miss him dearly.

Ron leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, laughter, and friendship. His family takes comfort in knowing that his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched. He will be remembered not only for the honors he earned, but for the joy he brought to others, the stories he shared, the dance floor he never avoided, and the love he gave so freely.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ron's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
