Vernon Carawan

Columbia, Vernon Ellis Carawan, 70, died peacefully on Thursday, July 5, 2018.He was born on January 9, 1948, in Greenville, NC, to the late Vernon B. and Lillian B. Carawan. Vernon spent most of his life working in accounting.His last job was with the State of South Carolina Revenue Department. One of Vernon’s greatest joys in life was shagging.He taught shag when he lived in West Virginia. Vernon is survived by Linda Holowacz of Gilbert, SC, his companion of eleven years;children Milton Carawan (Angela) of Cary, NC, and Susan Davies (Graham) of Beckenham, England; grandchildren; Benjamin Carawan, Megan Carawan, Nathan Davies and Arlo Davies; brother Robert Carawan (Diane) of Scott Depot, WV. A Memorial Service will be held on July 28, 2018, at 11:00am, at McGregor Presbyterian Church, 6505 St. Andrews Rd. Columbia, SC 29212.A light lunch will follow. Memorials maybe made to the church.
