Funeral Services for William "Bill" Ackermann, 92, will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Bush River Funeral Home. Entombment will be private.
Bill passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026. Born in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of the late Eugene and Emily Endres Ackermann, whom migrated to America from Germany. He was a proud graduate of the University of Missouri, earning his bachelor's degree. Following college, he served his country in the United States Army in the Field Artillery as a Lieutenant. Bill worked as a Sales Manager at Amoco Oil Company, retiring after 33 years of dedicated time. He was an active member and one of the founding people of the SOAR soccer fields with Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. There, he served as an Elder and a Deacon. Often times, he was seen volunteering his time, even after his wife's passing, at Leeza's Care and participated in the Men's Coffee Club. Bill was also on the board for the Wheels Harbison Area Transit, helping individuals with no transportation as well as the Meals on Wheels program.
He is survived by his children, W. Erich Ackermann (Cherry) and Kristi McNemar (Jim); grandchildren, Logan Ackermann, Noah Ackermann, Breonna McNemar, Caitlyn McNemar, and Joshua McNemar; great-grandchildren, Grayson and Oakley Gunter; and sister, Betty Traylor;
He was predeceased by his wife, Bettie Ackermann; and a brother, Gene Ackermann.
