William Kent Honea

William Kent Honea, 61, of Whittier, NC died on May 14, 2026 in Lexington, SC.

Kent was born in Columbia, SC in 1965 to Frank Godfrey Honea Jr. and Virginia Powell Honea.

Kent was preceded in death by parents Frank and Ginny Honea and his brother Bruce Honea. He is survived by his wife Caryl Lynne Honea and daughter Caitlyn Honea. He is also survived by his brothers Scott Honea and Matt Honea and their families, and his sister Marsha Andosca.

Kent, Coach Honea, lived life large loving family, sports and helping others. He always did what he loved, exploring history, cooking for others and coaching students to be their best on and off the field. Known for his humor with a twist of sarcasm, custom t-shirts and perseverance, his legacy will live on through all whom he touched.

A visitation is scheduled for 5/21/2026 from 4-6 pm at Bush River Funeral Home. Efforts are currently underway to create and accept memorials to the Coach Honea Scholarship Fund for Chapin students, supporting their educational needs for college, trade or business. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or supporting the Coach Honea Scholarship Fund once details are established and shared via Chapin High School’s web page (chs.lexrich5.org) & on Kent Honea’s personal Facebook page.
